About the role
The Lab Technician III supports day-to-day laboratory operations within a fast-paced biologics research environment. This position plays a critical role in maintaining laboratory readiness by managing sample inventory, coordinating shipments, supporting equipment operations, and ensuring laboratory supplies and consumables remain available.
Responsibilities
- Manage laboratory sample inventory to support development, stability, and GMP testing activities.
- Receive, organize, track, and transfer biological samples while maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Prepare and coordinate compliant shipments of research materials between internal and external laboratories.
- Support laboratory operations by monitoring storage equipment and submitting service tickets for maintenance and repairs.
- Perform routine laboratory walkthroughs to ensure equipment, storage areas, and workspaces remain organized and operational.
- Cook up with internal departments and third-party vendors to schedule equipment maintenance, calibrations, and repairs.
- Maintain laboratory consumables including CO₂, liquid nitrogen (LN₂), reagents, buffers, pipettes, and other laboratory supplies.
- Prepare common laboratory buffers and media following established procedures.
- Aid in equipment readiness by collecting, distributing, and tracking laboratory equipment.
- Support GMP and biosafety compliance by following laboratory SOPs and safety procedures.
- Collaborate with scientists, laboratory staff, facilities, and cross-functional teams to ensure uninterrupted laboratory operations.
- Prioritize multiple assignments while adapting to changing business needs.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or another Life Science discipline.
- 2-5 years of laboratory operations, laboratory support, sample management, inventory control, or related laboratory experience.
- Experience working in a laboratory environment with biological samples or laboratory materials.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Preferred:
- Experience supporting GMP or GLP laboratory environments.
- Experience with laboratory inventory management systems (LIMS, Maximo, SAP, or similar).
- Experience coordinating laboratory equipment maintenance or vendor service visits.
- Experience preparing laboratory buffers, reagents, or media.
- Experience handling or shipping biological samples or highly potent compounds.
- Familiarity with laboratory safety, SOPs, and biosafety procedures.
