Position Summary
This role focuses on the application of flavors into multiple beverage categories. This person will report into a Beverage Scientist II and will work closely with Flavor Creations, Analytical Sciences, Regulatory, Culinary and Sales.
Responsibilities
- Aid Product Developers & Flavor Chemists with lab tasks / duties.
- Setting up bench testing taste tests of beverage samples.
- Setting up for oral evaluation.
- Responsible for the preparation / set-up of raw materials, finished products and retention samples.
- Manage lab inventory of raw materials, product bases, supplies and retail products needed to support daily tasks.
- Precise lab record / data keeping.
- Maintain GMP, sanitation and lab organization.
- Able to work independently with little or no supervision and as a member of a team.
- Set up samples for daily sensory panel analysis of finished products and retention samples.
- EFFECTIVELY communicate with related departments on projects and products as required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum level of education required: Associate Degree in Sciences (biology, chemistry, food science, etc.) or equivalent training or experience in the food industry (up to 4 years of experience).
- Experience in a culinary kitchen, lab or food manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Knowledge of food safety as well.
- Solid math skills including the ability to work accurately with formulas and decimals.
- PC skills required. Experience operating in a Windows environment, managing files and handling data (Excel, Teams, etc).
- Professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution.
- Able to be self-directed and motivated. Manage time and prioritize work effectively.
- Able to take instruction / direction from multiple groups
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously while keeping the ability to redirect efforts based on shifting demands.
- Experience following principles and making informed decisions.
- Troubleshooting skills and ability to identify analyze and solve problems, with manager.
- Able to present information to peers in a logical manner.
- Must have strong teamwork capabilities, flexibility to adjust to customer demands.
- Able to work in a challenging and fast-paced environment with changing practices.
- Able to lift 10 pounds continuously, 20 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally.
- Able to work onsite and to attend all shifts as scheduled.
- Able to taste a wide range of beverages. Allergies or other restrictions that might prevent participation in tastings need to be known to hiring manager.
