Lab Resource Nurse Support
About the role
The part-time Lab Resource Nurse (LRN) Support position assists in providing technical and tutoring support to students in the Nursing Programs. The LRN collaborates with the Nursing Lab Manager, Simulation Faculty, and Nurse Administrators to ensure supplies and equipment are available and prepared for skills lab and scheduled simulations and to provide theory and skills tutoring to students in all Nursing pathways as needed.
Responsibilities
- Support student clinical reasoning and evidence-based psychomotor development by providing direct assistance to students in the campus lab during open lab practice times, including simulation.
- Organize, maintain, and ensure safety of the lab environment.
- Collaborate with Nursing Lab Manager and Simulation Faculty in simulated student experiences.
- Collaborate with nursing faculty regarding expected student skill level.
- Supervise students when using high-tech equipment in the lab.
- Operate instructional and nursing equipment, including audiovisuals, computer-aided instruction, simulation, video cameras, and lab-related instructional equipment.
- Provide individual or group theory or skills tutoring, including dosage calculations, for students self-referred or referred by nursing faculty.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree in nursing (ADN); Current, unencumbered, and active RN license or ability to obtain license in the State of Washington prior to hire; Two (2) years recent full-time equivalent (FTE) clinical nursing; Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider certification; Current up to date immunizations; Basic computer skills including Microsoft applications.
- Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN); Experience working with healthcare simulation equipment and/or in healthcare lab settings; Experience working in a community college setting; Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and simulation platforms; Experience supporting adult learners.
Benefits
This is a part-time classified position. All classified positions will start their salary at Step A, when you have completed six months of probation, will increase 2 ranges upon a completing probation. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Washington Public Employees Associate (WPEA) Union.
