Responsibilities

• Performs blood collections in a safe, accurate and professional manner on all age groups and degrees of difficulty.
• Maintains a high level of patient safety and quality by monitoring patients for unexpected reactions and responding to emergency situations as required.
• Identifies, troubleshoots and resolves problems.
• Provides a variety of other services including but not limited to answering the telephone, customer service, scanning manual orders, glucose tolerance collection, sweat chloride collection, and waived laboratory testing.
• Enters information and test orders into the laboratory computer system.
• Interacts with all patients, their families and employees in a pleasant, efficient and cooperative manner, exhibiting sensitivity to cultural differences.

Requirements

• Phlebotomy certificate/license is not required, but preferred.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
• Experience: Preferred: Experience as a phlebotomist or specimen processing tech in a hospital setting. 1-year pediatric phlebotomy experience and/or one year of experience in a pediatric clinical laboratory setting, and/or graduation from an accredited medical assistant or phlebotomy program.

Benefits

Annual salaries displayed are based on full-time employment (40 standard hrs per week). Annual salaries for part-time positions will be prorated based on the employee’s scheduled weekly hours in relation to the full-time standard. When determining individual pay rates, we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, internal equity and organizational needs. In addition to your salary, this position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night, weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.

Pay

The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market.

Schedule

Hours: 0500, 0530, 0800, and 0900 start times. (8 hours shifts) Every third weekend. Weekend start times: 0500 or 0530
