Responsibilities

  • Maintain open studio/lab hours as scheduled each semester.
  • Ensure students sign in and are enrolled in Fine Wood classes before using the lab.
  • Afford instructors assistance as needed.
  • Help students understand and follow safe and proper use of power tools and safety procedures.
  • Clean up the studio space after each session.
  • Monitor and direct students in maintaining the studio and equipment.
  • Check that all equipment is in good working condition.
  • Perform weekly inventory of lab fee materials and consumables.
  • Support ordering and receiving of materials in partnership with faculty and the MAO.
  • Perform simple repairs on equipment and contact MOA or vendors for repairs if necessary.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with proven experience with woodworking tools.
  • One year of related experience with Fine Woodworking processes and equipment like table saws, planers, jointers, and lathes.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures with all woodworking power tools and processes.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree preferred.
  • Experience with maintenance and/or repair of woodworking machinery and tools.
  • Experience working in higher education or with students.
  • Experience working with ShopBot.

Skills

  • Ability to work independently.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Physical strength to perform tasks like lifting and moving heavy objects.

Benefits

The position offers approximately 10 hours per week, with a maximum of 499 hours per year.

Pay

HOURLY RATE $20.2135 - $21.6284 (commensurate with experience)
