Johnson College is seeking a part-time Carpentry and Cabinetmaking Lab Assistant for daytime classes in the fall 2026 semester.
Responsibilities
- Organize and deliver class syllabi and objectives in a clear, concise manner
- Maintain an organized and safe lab environment
- Ensure training aids, tools, and equipment are maintained and prepared for classroom and lab use
- Keep accurate records of student performance and submit academic records in a timely manner
- Provide students with timely feedback
Requirements
- Experience in all phases of floor framing, wall framing, and ceiling framing
- Window and door installation experience
- Knowledge of drywall prep and installation, spackling, priming, and painting
- Experience with setup and installation of interior trim and finished flooring
- Knowledge of site layout and use of various transits and leveling devices
- Minimum of an Associate's degree and/or 4-5 years of technical experience
- Strong communication skills and ability to teach
- Expertise in carpentry and cabinetmaking
- Good managerial and organizational skills
- Knowledge of industry standards and assessment skills
- Proficiency in word-processing
- Ability to speak confidently in front of small groups
- Passion for recruiting into the skilled trades
- Flexible work schedule, including morning classes
Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required. Industry professionals are encouraged to apply.
