Lumber Assistant

About the role

Leverage your expertise in timber handling and processing to support the sawmill operations at Back to the Wood. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of materials through the sawing process.

Responsibilities

• Handle incoming lumber shipments, inspect quality, and prepare for sawing.
• Operate and maintain sawing machinery to ensure efficient and safe operation.
• Monitor production levels and adjust processes as needed to meet production targets.
• Collaborate with other departments to resolve issues related to material flow and quality control.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience in a similar role or in timber handling.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in using sawing machinery and safety equipment.
• Knowledge of timber grading and quality standards.
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings.
