Lab Assistant / Phlebotomist - 40 hrs - Day Shifts

About the role

Join our Lab Team as a Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist in a dynamic, high-energy environment where you’ll make a real impact every day. You’ll perform phlebotomy, assist technical staff in preparing equipment and analyzing specimens, maintain reagent inventory, and handle clerical functions related to accessioning, result reporting, and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Identify patients, communicate the process, and collect specimens for lab analysis following approved techniques and Universal Precautions.
• Log samples into the lab LIS and ensure specimen integrity during accessioning and processing.
• Maintain daily operation of instrumentation and prepare specimens for dispatch to reference laboratories.
• Monitor send-out pending test lists and specimen manifests.
• Perform select laboratory testing under the supervision of a Medical Technologist.
• Prepare control materials, perform preventative maintenance, complete maintenance logs, and oversee temperature recordings for refrigerators and freezers.
• Enter Blood Bank inventory into the computer system and perform daily inventory checks.
• Maintain reagent inventory, label and store reagents appropriately, and track expiration dates.
• File specimens for easy retrieval and discard them at proper intervals.
• Answer phones, ensure customer satisfaction, and process add-on test requests following laboratory protocol.
• Restock supplies in the work area as needed.
• Perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• 1 year of related medical work experience, preferably in a lab setting.
• Phlebotomy Certification preferred.

Schedule

40 hours per week, Monday through Friday with an every-other-Saturday rotation.
