Lab Assistant III

About the Role

Performs blood specimen collection, specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens. Conducts CLIA waived laboratory tests as requested. Processes anatomic pathology and cytology specimens, assists pathologists and histotechs as needed. Supervises or leads lab assistant I and II positions. Completes prioritization, receipt, registration, and distribution of specimens. Manages sendout/reference lab shipping, tracking, and billing. Performs waived testing and assists with processing anatomic pathology specimens, including preparation of microscopic tissue slides, staining, and specimen management.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of laboratory experience and/or completion of a formal phlebotomy training program.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy Certification where state law requires.

Qualifications (Preferred)

• Basic laboratory computer/lab information system experience.
• Associates degree in laboratory or medical-related field from an accredited institution.
• Completion of a formal phlebotomy training program and/or national phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ANP, ASPT, or similar.
