About the role

Venture Community Services provides support to individuals facing diverse challenges through a compassionate and dedicated workforce using innovative practices that encourage independence, empowerment, and opportunity. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for advocating and supporting adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities by empowering them to be as active in their lives as they can. Support needs include, but are not limited to, household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, and other personal care tasks so individuals may always look and feel their best.

The DSP may assist with medical appointments, banking, community integration, outings, medication administration, and following Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans, goals, and medical guidelines. DSP workers are provided paid New Employee Orientation, CPR/First Aid, PABC, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration Program (MAP) training, as well as program and person-specific training at the individuals’ home. The DSP must be able to safely evacuate individuals from the home in an emergency and maintain all required certifications while complying with Agency policies and DDS regulations.

Schedule

Part-time: 13 hours per week

  • Sunday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Saturday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Pay

Pay rate: $17.50 - $19.00 per hour

Paid training provided by Venture.

Sign-on Bonus: $1,000 for Full-Time and $500 for Part-Time employees.

Responsibilities

  • Advocate for and support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Assist with household maintenance, meal preparation, shopping, and personal care (bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing).
  • Support individuals in attending medical appointments, banking, and community activities.
  • Administer medications and follow Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans, and medical guidelines.
  • Safely evacuate individuals in case of an emergency.
  • Maintain certifications and comply with Agency policies and DDS regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Must be 21+ years old.
  • Valid driver’s license and daily use of a car on-site (preferred but not required).
  • Available by telephone for daily contact.
