About the role

The Mayors Migration Council (MMC) is a mayor-led coalition that accelerates ambitious global action on migration and displacement. The Knowledge and Impact Manager will lead the development of high-quality research and knowledge products, monitor and evaluate the MMC's activities, and engage with partners and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of high-quality research and knowledge products that fill critical gaps in the field, elevate city-led approaches to migration and displacement, and strengthen the MMC’s influence with policymakers, practitioners, donors, and partners.
  • Drive the content vision and execution of high-quality knowledge products—including long-form research reports, rapid thematic briefs, annual impact reports, case studies, presentations, board memos, grant materials, and other written products—working closely with program leads, research partners, consultants, and experts with lived experience.
  • Manage the full knowledge product lifecycle, from research design, analysis, drafting, editing, and design, to publication planning, dissemination, and related communications materials.
  • Monitor, Evaluation, Learning, and Impact: Lead the implementation and ongoing refinement of the MMC’s monitoring, evaluation, and learning framework, ensuring it remains practical, useful, and aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Develop and maintain tools, systems, and processes to collect, organize, analyze, and report program and organizational data, including KPI trackers, progress dashboards, quarterly reviews, surveys, focus groups, and other feedback mechanisms.
  • Work closely with program leads to develop and refine program-level theories of change, identify meaningful impact metrics, integrate evidence into strategies and grant proposals, and use learning to inform program adaptation and strategic decision-making.
  • Field Engagement and Partnerships: Stay current on research, policy debates, and emerging trends in urban migration, displacement, city diplomacy, and M&E practices, identifying opportunities to strengthen the MMC’s work and contribution to the field.
  • Design and facilitate processes, tools, and learning spaces—including knowledge-sharing events, workshops, and webinars—that promote reflection, collaboration, and exchange within MMC teams and across its network of cities, partners, donors, and peers.
  • Scope, cultivate, and manage research partnerships with leading institutions, platforms, and experts to amplify evidence, expand the MMC’s reach, and strengthen the visibility of city-led innovation.
  • Project Management and Organizational Support: Manage timelines, workflows, vendors, consultants, and contracts related to research, learning, evaluation, and knowledge production projects. Support organization-wide data management efforts, including the development of shared processes, team guidance, and transitions to new CRM or knowledge management systems.
  • Provide ad hoc research, writing, analysis, and development support for memos, presentations, proposals, speeches, briefings and other priority materials as needed.

Qualifications

  • Relevant professional and/or academic experience in research, knowledge production, monitoring & evaluation, and data management, preferably in a non-profit philanthropic, public policy, or mission-driven organization.
  • Strong research, analytical, and editorial skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, compelling, and actionable insights for diverse audiences.
  • A proactive problem-solver focused on delivery, with a track record of driving the design and implementation for knowledge management and M&E systems across an organization in a collaborative way.
  • A clear and confident communicator who can advise on research, evidence, learning, and impact-related issues with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders, board members, funders, and partners.
  • Demonstrated experience developing high-quality written products, such as research reports, policy briefs, case studies, presentations, donor materials, board memos, or other knowledge products.
  • Proven track record of managing projects independently, with a high degree of initiative to set priorities, coordinate inputs from multiple stakeholders, manage timelines, and deliver high-quality outputs.
  • Experience managing or supporting high-profile external publications, including working with designers, editors, consultants, researchers, or communications colleagues.
  • Competence in report design, data visualization, and presentation development; direct experience with graphic design or design tools is an advantage.
  • Experience facilitating meetings, workshops, trainings, webinars, or other learning and knowledge-sharing spaces is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and CRMs or data management systems, with the capacity to learn new programs.
  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills for multiple audiences, including ability to prepare clear and concise reports and presentations for internal and external audiences.
  • Fluency in another language strongly preferred, particularly Spanish or French.
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills, with a collaborative, solutions-oriented working style.
  • Deep interest in cities, global affairs, and migration, and strong alignment with the MMC’s mission and values.
  • Experience with research, learning, or M&E related to urban migration, displacement, climate change, city diplomacy, local governance, or city policy-making is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
  • Fluency in languages other than English is an asset.
