About the Role
This position is responsible for meeting or exceeding the sales revenue goal assigned, handling and booking groups of ten rooms or more with and without meals. The role is key to achieving the overall success of the hotel.
Responsibilities
- Handle groups of ten rooms or more, including those with and without meeting space.
- Manage all inquiries, provide group pricing quotes, and deliver clear, concise information to callers.
- Enter accounts and contacts into the Opera System and block meeting or event space.
- Generate contracts and submit them to clients.
- Maintain current data on accounts and contacts.
- Respond to RFPs within 24-48 hours.
- Make outside sales calls to new and existing clients to secure and service business.
- Entertain clients both inside and outside the hotel.
- Conduct site tours to close more business.
- Meet or exceed individual sales goals.
- Solicit calls to existing clients and research the internet to secure new clients and meetings.
- Call past clients to book repeat business.
- Represent the hotel and Six Flags in a professional and ethical manner.
- Attend assigned trade shows.
- Prepare monthly production reports and submit them to the Director of Sales (DOS) for approval.
- Participate in daily Revenue Meetings with the DOS and Revenue Manager, providing input on pricing strategy.
- Interact with the catering team to prepare group menus and detail group functions.
- Welcome group leaders/organizers at hotel check-in.
- Prepare group resumes for all incoming groups and distribute paperwork to department heads.
- Collate group information regarding meal times, menus, arrival, and departure times, and communicate this information.
- Generate invoices and collect payments for groups, arranging direct billing if requested by the client.
- Exercise good decision-making when analyzing business opportunities.
- Maintain strong communication with the Director of Catering (DOC) and other departments.
Requirements
- 2-4 years of experience in hotel sales management.
- Responsibilities include reaching or exceeding revenue goals, overseeing approximately $1 million in group room bookings.
- Self-starter with previous hotel sales experience and leadership skills.
- Advanced knowledge of the SMERF market is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proper English and grammar usage.
- Ability to pass a background check (if 18 or older), which may include credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education, and personal references, per company policy.
- Valid California Driver’s License.
Preferred: Associate’s degree or vocational/technical school in Hotel/Tourism or Business; Bachelor’s degree in Business.
Pay
$92,250.00 - $123,000.00 per year.
