Kitting Technician

Job Scope

The Kitting Technician will gather, kit, and stage all components required for upcoming production orders. This work will be performed under general supervision in Freeport, TX.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain communication at all times with team.
  • Become familiar with inventory processes and press terminology.
  • Able to learn company specialized computer software and perform tasks within the system.
  • Able to accurately prepare a kit for each upcoming production job.
  • Able to follow the press schedule and stage the next job for press per work order and SOP instructions.
  • Able to assist with changeover activities, including wash-up and set-up.
  • Able to appropriately disassemble kits and return cleaned and/or unused items to designated storage locations.
  • Able to act as a resource for pressroom production to reduce downtime and improve productivity.
  • Able to monitor inventory levels of auxiliary supplies at press and replace as needed.
  • Able to monitor scrap/waste containers and replace as needed.
  • Able to match, mix, and prepare color to customer supplied samples.
  • Able to communicate concerns, issues, and status of specific production orders with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Able to follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.
  • Able to maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Able to participate in process improvement initiatives.
  • Able to develop strategic sourcing agreements and subcontracts.

Ideal Background

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor degree in related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Requires at least 2 years of relevant industrial experience.
  • Skills: Strong written/verbal interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to read, write, and comprehend instructions and SOPs in English. Must be able to present information to team. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. General computer skills. Must be flexible, and dependable with a good attendance history. Organized, detail-oriented, and able to accurately complete high volumes of work. Ability to manage multiple tasks in an organized manner. Strong initiative, problem-solving, and resourcefulness. Forklift certification.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
