About The Role
The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) is seeking a Kitchen Supervisor to join our team. This position is responsible for overseeing kitchen operations, training kitchen personnel, and ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
Responsibilities
- Schedule kitchen workload to allow for timely meal preparation, serving, and clean-up.
- Train and supervise kitchen personnel, including beneficiaries, on proper cooking techniques and food safety.
- Ensure proper kitchen sanitation standards are maintained.
- Maintain kitchen equipment in good working condition and schedule repairs as needed.
- Develop and maintain relationships with food suppliers, including the local Food Bank.
- Order food consistent with nutritional considerations and within budget restrictions.
- Manage petty cash for weekly food purchases and follow approved accounting procedures for reimbursement.
- Work with the Center Administrator for menu planning and special events.
- Assist with cooking and service as needed and consult with professional staff as necessary.
- Inform Resident Manager and/or Center Administrator of manpower needs and ensure personnel policies are followed.
- Maintain confidentiality and establish and enforce safety measures according to TSA Policy and governmental regulations.
- Oversee personnel during overtime as approved by the Center Administrator.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited food service program.
- Minimum of 1-year experience in institutional cooking with management responsibilities.
- Valid California drivers license and proof of insurance.
Qualifications
- Ability to stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in an environment of extreme heat.
- Ability to see and make visual inspections and read, interpret, and follow recipes.
- Ability to smell and taste to determine freshness and proper seasoning.
- Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks.
- Able to operate a motor vehicle.
Skills
