Kitchen Supervisor

Responsibilities

• Prepare appetizing, nutritious, and balanced meals on schedule for residents, ensuring dietary and cultural needs are met.
• Support consistent food service operations across all shelter kitchens by collaborating with peers and the Kitchen Manager.
• Supervise and direct staff and volunteers to ensure compliance with agency policies and procedures.
• Monitor adherence to state and agency sanitation and food safety standards in all kitchens.
• Complete and submit required reports, including volunteer logs, daily meal counts, and partner-required documentation.
• Maintain organized and accurate paperwork for food service operations.
• Monitor inventory, rotate stock, and ensure kitchens are properly supplied.
• Receive, document, and properly store food donations, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
• Foster a welcoming and professional environment in interactions with residents, staff, and volunteers.
• Provide leadership coverage across shelter locations as needed in the absence of the Kitchen Manager.

Requirements

• Must have high school education or GED
• One-year culinary training preferred
• Must have at least one year cooking experience
• One-year supervisory/management experience or two years as a lead cook preferred
• Two years in food service preparations for large groups
• Previous direct service experience preferred
• Obtain and maintain ServSafe Certification and other required certifications.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
