Kitchen and Cafeteria Helper

Responsibilities

• Affords assistance in all stages of food preparation as per direction while ensuring a clean and secure kitchen and cafeteria zone.
• Assists in the preparation, service, and transportation of patient trays, snacks, or supplements.
• Retrieves patient trays, washes and stores as required.
• Sets up and restocks food items on cafeteria counters and serves cafeteria patrons.
• Checks the temperature of food on cafeteria steam tables and refills or restocks condiments and other items as needed.
• Verifies the temperature of refrigerators, freezers, and food before meal service.
• Cleans the preparation area and equipment.
• Operates cash registers, collects payments from cafeteria customers, and records cash after each snack and meal period.
• Assists in the preparation, serving, and clean-up of catered meals.
• Assists with vending machine operations as necessary.
• Performs tasks such as scraping, raking, hand-washing dishes, trays, and silverware.
• Assists on trayveyor lines during patient tray service periods.
• Might assist in storing staples or other supplies.
• Disposes of garbage accumulated during the assigned shift and cleans garbage cans and the area.
• May clean pots and pans as assigned.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma preferred, up to one year of experience preferred.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Adept at problem-solving and decision-making skills.
