Kitchen and Cafeteria Helper

Responsibilities

• Aids in all aspects of food preparation as directed while keeping the kitchen and cafeteria clean and safe.
• Prepares, serves, and transports patient trays, snacks, or supplements.
• Retrieves and stores patient trays as needed.
• Serves cafeteria customers and arranges and stocks food items on the counter.
• Checks and maintains proper temperatures of food on steam tables.
• Restocks condiments and other items as required.
• Takes and records temperatures for refrigerators, freezers, and food before serving.
• Cleans the preparation area and equipment.
• Operates a cash register, collects payments from customers, and records cash after each snack and meal period.
• Assists with the preparation, serving, and clean-up of catered meals.
• Operates vending machines as needed.
• Cleans and washes dishes, trays, and silverware, including scraping and hand-washing.
• Works on the trayveyor line during patient tray service periods.
• Stores staple goods or other supplies as assigned.
• Disposes of garbage and cleans garbage cans and the area during the shift.
• May assist in cleaning pots and pans as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred with up to one year of experience.
• Adaptable to problem-solving and decision-making tasks.
