About the role
This part-time, on-site, hourly role supports the weekend operations (every other Saturday and Sunday from 4-9pm) of our Main Housing facility kitchen in Morris Township, NJ. The Kitchen Aide ensures safe, efficient, and compliant kitchen operations while interacting with volunteers who plan, prepare, and serve meals to our residential clients. The role reports to the Volunteer Manager.
Responsibilities
- Greet and support volunteer groups as they plan, prepare, and serve meals, including emergency light food prep coverage for volunteer absences or other emergent situations.
- Complete safe and efficient processes related to cleaning and storing all food service items and equipment, including cleaning of the kitchen facility.
- Interact with shelter guests, calling them to meals at appropriate times and overseeing interactions with volunteers during mealtimes.
- Complete and maintain current ServSafe training certifications.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience with residential settings or multi-dwelling housing facilities is preferred.
- Ability and willingness to obtain ServSafe certification and other required trainings.
- Food service/handling, dishwashing, or other kitchen experience required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to independently prioritize tasks and balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated experience for autonomous and independent decision-making while working as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to positively represent the organization to external stakeholders.
- Basic technology skills, including use of Microsoft Suite products.
- Physically capable of lifting and carrying supplies up to 40 pounds.
- Regular and predictable onsite attendance and reliable transportation are required during scheduled hours, including during inclement weather.
- Satisfactory results of applicable periodic background checks.
Pay
$18.50/hour
