About the role
The Kitchen Aide Monastery works under the supervision of the Director of the Monastery Infirmary. They prepare meals for the Saint Vincent community who dine in the infirmary.
Responsibilities
- Keeps the kitchen and dining room clean and in good order.
- Presents food with appropriate utensils and at the proper temperature.
- Resets tables and regularly changes tablecloth.
- Responds promptly and courteously to special requests of the monks.
- Prepares trays according to nursing specifications for those who are room bound.
- Maintains stock and inventory of kitchen supplies.
- Makes available beverages, fruit, and small snack items for the nutritional needs of the monks.
- Reports any hazards to patients or staff and makes recommendations for improvements.
- Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships with residents, visitors, and staff while ensuring confidentiality.
- Reports any changes observed and conditions or behaviors of patients and any unusual behavior.
Requirements
- High school diploma required.
- Training or education and food service preferred.
- Some prior work and kitchen assistance preferred but not required.

- Adapts to changing unit needs by organizing priorities.
- Attends and participates in unit meetings and job-related educational programs.
Skills
- Careful and efficient use of supplies and materials.
- Participation in orientation of new employees.
- Ability to embrace the unique mission and identity of the College as a Catholic, Benedictine liberal arts and sciences institution.
