KINDERGARTEN TEACHER - ST. PATRICK SCHOOL, MALVERN, PA - CHESTER COUNTY

About the role

St. Patrick School is actively looking for a full-time Kindergarten Teacher who will report to the Director of Early Childhood. The Kindergarten Teacher at a Catholic elementary school creates a supportive, Christ-centered learning environment that fosters the spiritual, academic, social, emotional, and physical development of young children. The ideal candidate incorporates Gospel values and Catholic traditions into daily instruction while delivering a strong early childhood academic curriculum aligned with diocesan standards.

Faith Formation & Spiritual Leadership

• Integrate Catholic faith, Gospel values, and daily prayer into classroom routines and lesson plans.
• Teach the required religion curriculum and prepare students for active participation in school Masses and liturgical celebrations.
• Model Catholic values and promote a classroom culture grounded in kindness, respect, forgiveness, and service.

Instruction & Curriculum

• Design and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies.
• Utilize a variety of instructional methods—including hands-on centers, movement, play-based learning, and educational technology—to accommodate diverse learning styles.
• Differentiate instruction to support students who require early intervention as well as those needing enrichment.

Classroom Management

• Establish a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment with clear routines and expectations.
• Guide children in developing positive social skills, self-regulation, conflict resolution, and independence.
• Monitor student behavior and well-being continuously, ensuring all safety and child-protection protocols are maintained.

Assessment & Parent Communication

• Evaluate and document each child’s academic progress, developmental milestones, and social-emotional growth.
• Maintain open, proactive communication with parents and guardians through newsletters, digital platforms, and direct updates.
• Prepare progress reports and conduct formal parent-teacher conferences.

Professional & Community Responsibilities

• Collaborate with grade-level peers, specialized teachers, and school administration to enhance instructional programs.
• Participate in faculty meetings, diocesan professional development, and school or parish community events.
• Fulfill assigned supervisory duties, such as recess, lunch, or dismissal monitoring.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or a related field.
• Certification: Valid state teaching license/certification in Early Childhood or Elementary Education (or active pursuit of certification).
• Faith Requirement: Active, practicing Catholic preferred; a strong commitment to supporting the mission, philosophy, and teachings of the Catholic Church is preferred.
• Clearances: Successful completion of background checks, fingerprinting, and diocesan Safe Environment training (e.g., VIRTUS).
• Skills: Strong communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills, with patience and warmth suited for young learners.
