Job Summary

Aid the manager and director in supervising a team of 85-160 employees. Perform supervisory duties such as interviewing, hiring, and training; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving issues.

Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks

  • Assist manager in supervising a team of 15-30 employees.
  • Interview, hire, and train employees.
  • Plan, assign, and direct work.
  • Appraise performance, reward, and discipline employees.
  • Address and resolve guest complaints.
  • Supervise daily operations, including guest check-in, class assignments, and facility upkeep.
  • Comply with federal and California labor laws and company policies.
  • Enforce safety standards.
  • Coordinate various programs in the Adult School.
  • Aid in personnel and financial management.
  • Afford assistance in marketing and promotional activities.
  • Record and maintain files for Ski and Snowboard School programs.
  • Lead Instructor Training.
  • Perform or assist in performing duties.
  • Teach group and private lessons.

Required Competencies and Job Requirements

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Working knowledge of computers, particularly MS Office.
  • Advanced skiing and/or snowboarding skills.
  • PSIA/AASI certifications.
  • Knowledge of PSIA/AASI teaching principles and techniques.
  • Leadership and customer service skills.
  • Physical capabilities to stand, walk, ski, carry, lift, and adjust focus.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PSIA/AASI level 1 certification or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • PSIA/AASI level 3 certification.
  • One year supervisory experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand, walk, talk, see, hear, ski.
  • Capable of walking, standing, and skiing 90% or more of a normal 8-hour work shift.
  • Occasionally carry, lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Working Conditions

  • Indoor/Outdoor: Continuous exposure to outside weather conditions, including extreme cold, wetness, humidity, blizzards, and extreme storm conditions.
  • Hazardous materials/Noise: Moderate noise level in the workplace.

Equipment Used in Job

  • Skis and/or Snowboard.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years related experience and/or training.
  • PSIA/AASI level 1 certification or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • PSIA/AASI level 3 certification.
  • One year supervisory experience.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • PSIA/AASI level 3 certification.
