Kick Broom Equipment Operator

General Duties

• Operate a kick broom or broom tractor to sweep and clean roadway surfaces ahead of paving operations
• Remove dirt, debris, loose aggregate, and excess material to ensure proper asphalt bonding
• Sweep in front of and behind the asphalt paver to maintain a clean, consistent paving surface
• Perform daily equipment inspections and complete required equipment or safety reports
• Auxiliary tasks include assisting with jobsite preparation, cleanup, and general paving crew duties as needed

Qualifications

• Good communications skills both written and verbal to interact with internal and external drivers and customers
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects using organizational skills and communications skills
• Strong sense of responsibility for timely and accurate completion of work, and commitment to company goals
• Capable of functioning under fast-paced stressful working conditions within live traffic
• Prior pavement preservation experience is required
