Kham Interpreter

About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Kham-English phone interpreter to work remotely from home. This is an independent contractor position with no employee benefits.

Responsibilities

• Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally.
• Render accurate interpretations of conversations between Kham and English speakers.
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation and enunciation.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and remain calm during interpreting sessions.
• Adapt to various industries including healthcare, insurance, finance, and law.
• Understand and follow protocol and terminology for different industries.
• Show cultural sensitivity and work in a diverse environment.
• Be available during work hours and follow client instructions.
• Work in a quiet and secure environment.

Requirements

• Fluency in Kham and English with cultural understanding.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive topics and remain neutral.
• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred.
• Adaptable to LLS technology enhancements.
• At least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the US.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write requested languages preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be able to operate a keyboard and mouse, remain stationary, and use company software.
• Must have sufficient manual dexterity to type or write.
• Must be able to lift up to 26 lbs.
• Must have access to a quiet space free from background noise or distraction.

Pay

The pay rate is $0.80 - $0.95 per minute.

Schedule

This is a remote position where the interpreter works from their home office.
