Key Account Manager - Pittsburgh, PA
About the role
Responsible for managing & further developing business with all assigned Polymer Additives Business Unit (PLA) customers within the territory and Key Accounts. Commercial management of accounts including negotiation of contracts, product pricing, service levels and payment terms with both new and existing portfolio of customers. Develop strong interpersonal and trusting customer relationships with key contacts at assigned accounts. Develop new relationships at all levels within assigned territory, including management, technology, operations, and procurement. Develop senior level customer relationships which will strengthen and grow business for PLA and Lanxess. Provide market intelligence & insight from assigned customers, which will help the global PLA Commercial team understand regional and global market trends. Communicate information on market intelligence, product applications, competitive activity, and customer demand through Visit Reports, MS Teams meetings, emails, etc. Work with Customer Service and Supply Chain to ensure PLA receives accurate monthly forecasts and as a result of these forecasts, minimizes working capital and increases customer service performance.
Responsibilities

- Identify and develop new customer relationships at all levels within the territory.
- Provide market intelligence and insights to the global PLA Commercial team.
- Communicate market intelligence, product applications, competitive activity, and customer demand.
- Ensure PLA receives accurate monthly forecasts and minimize working capital and improve customer service performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as chemistry or engineering preferred.
- 5-10 years of experience in a similar role.
- Advanced account management skills.
- Strong computer skills - proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, SAP, IBP, & CRM.
- Strong marketing knowledge - price assembly / margin calculation.
Skills
- Knowledge of the PLA portfolio, product applications, markets, and customer needs.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
