About the role
The Key Account Manager (KAM) plays a crucial role in enhancing the day-to-day experience of the Bakelite team. They are responsible for improving customer satisfaction through personalized service and effective problem-solving, growing market share by identifying and closing leads, and promoting innovation by understanding client needs, market trends, and influencing product development.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal teams such as customer excellence, operations, supply chain, and product development to deliver value-add solutions to clients.
- Build and maintain strong, customer-centric relationships with key strategic accounts, fostering multi-level relationships between Bakelite and customers.
- Contract with strategic customers and develop strategies for account growth within the market and existing accounts.
- Achieve sales targets and drive revenue growth through effective account management, managing market dynamics against Bakelite needs and capabilities.
- Account for timely price updates and communication, collaborating with sales coordinators, customer excellence, and supply chain, and executing on pricing initiatives to meet business plans.
- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to provide strategic insights.
- Address client issues and concerns promptly and effectively, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (Chemistry, Engineering, Biology, or Business) minimum requirement.
- Minimum 8 years of industrial chemical sales, procurement, or marketing, or a technical background with emphasis on Industrial Chemical markets.
- Demonstrated evidence of a high degree of productivity and a high level of knowledge/skills in the commercial field and technical fields.
- Ability to work well independently to achieve objectives and goals, while also forging connections with remote work groups.
- Experience with contracting, negotiating both internally and with the customer.
- Good interpersonal communication skills and a desire to be part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Account or Commodity Management, including negotiations experience.
- Application knowledge.
- Value quantification experience.
- OEM & fabricator company experience in resin and chemical intermediate markets.
- Training in finance and marketing.
- Commercial experience with lean methodology.
