Concorde Education · Queens, NY · 6 days ago
On-siteEducation$50–$65/hrContract

About the role

Concorde Education works with K–12 schools and community partners to bring specialized educational and enrichment programs to students. We connect qualified professionals with part-time instructional opportunities that allow them to introduce young learners to new interests, develop practical skills, and explore subjects beyond the traditional classroom. We are seeking individuals interested in joining our network of independent contractor instructors for current and future school-based programs. You do not necessarily need to be a certified teacher. Depending on the program, relevant experience in coaching, professional practice, tutoring, mentoring, youth development, or specialized instruction may qualify you for consideration.

Areas of instructional interest

  • Technology & Innovation: Computer programming, robotics, artificial intelligence, digital media, and emerging technologies
  • Science & Engineering: Hands-on experiments, engineering projects, STEM exploration, and design-based learning
  • Creative Arts: Drawing, painting, animation, photography, music, theater, and dance
  • Academic Development: Mathematics, reading, writing, test preparation, and study strategies
  • Games & Critical Thinking: Chess, tabletop activities, strategy games, and problem-solving
  • Health & Recreation: Sports, physical fitness, yoga, and movement-based programs
  • Practical & Career Skills: Culinary arts, business, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and career exploration

Additional instructional specialties are considered as partner schools introduce new programs.

Responsibilities

Each assignment has its own schedule, student population, instructional goals, and program requirements. Depending on the opportunity, responsibilities may involve:

  • Leading interactive instructional sessions for elementary, middle, or high school students
  • Introducing concepts through demonstrations, discussions, projects, and practical activities
  • Preparing lessons or activities consistent with the assigned program's objectives
  • Encouraging student curiosity, participation, collaboration, and skill development
  • Providing appropriate supervision and maintaining a respectful learning environment
  • Adjusting instructional approaches to accommodate different learning levels and abilities
  • Coordinating professionally with school contacts and Concorde Education regarding program logistics
  • Following relevant site policies, student safety procedures, and assignment expectations

Instructors are expected to fulfill the responsibilities and schedules of assignments they accept.

Qualifications

We consider candidates with a variety of professional, academic, and instructional backgrounds. Successful applicants generally demonstrate:

  • Strong knowledge or practical experience in at least one relevant subject area
  • Experience teaching, mentoring, coaching, tutoring, or working with children and teenagers
  • The ability to explain concepts clearly and engage groups of students
  • Professional communication, dependability, and organizational skills
  • Comfort working within established school procedures and instructional expectations

Educational Background: At least 60 completed college credits is preferred for many opportunities. Equivalent professional or specialized experience may be considered when appropriate for a particular assignment. Prior classroom employment is not universally required. Individuals with experience in camps, community programs, private lessons, youth organizations, and related professional environments are encouraged to apply.

Program structure & teaching materials

Assignments differ according to the needs of each participating school. Certain programs provide prepared curriculum, lesson plans, supplies, or specific instructional guidelines. Others allow instructors to incorporate their own subject knowledge, teaching techniques, and suitable learning activities. Relevant program details, available resources, and instructional expectations are shared during the assignment selection process.

Schedule

These opportunities are generally part-time, with many programs meeting for approximately 1–4 instructional hours each week over an 8–10-week period. Scheduling, assignment length, and available hours depend on the individual school program. Opportunities are available throughout the academic year.

Pay

Most assignments offer $50–$65 per instructional hour. Actual rates may fall outside this range and are determined by the specific opportunity, geographic market, required expertise, experience, program demands, and other relevant factors. The compensation applicable to a particular assignment is communicated before an instructor accepts that assignment.

How the opportunity works

Concorde Education maintains a network of qualified instructors who may be considered as new school programs become available. Applicants whose backgrounds align with potential opportunities may be contacted regarding screening, documentation, profile setup, and applicable onboarding requirements. Instructional assignments are offered based on relevant qualifications, subject expertise, geographic availability, scheduling compatibility, school-partner requirements, and program demand.
