Juvenile Recovery Specialist

About the Role

The Juvenile Recovery Specialist assesses clients for substance use prevention and treatment needs and collaborates with youth Case Managers and Probation Officers to design individualized programs. This role involves connecting youth to community-based treatment programs, participating in multidisciplinary team meetings, and providing substance use education and prevention support.

Responsibilities

  • Assess youth clients for substance use prevention and treatment needs.
  • Collaborate with Case Managers and Probation Officers to develop individualized programs for identified clients.
  • Provide guidance to Case Managers regarding substance use risk factors, recovery supports, and appropriate intervention strategies.
  • Connect and support youth in engaging with existing alcohol and drug prevention and early-intervention programs and leadership activities in the community.
  • Monitor youth engagement and progress in substance use prevention and treatment programs and provide updates to Case Managers and Probation Officers.
  • Refer youth to appropriate substance use treatment programs when needed.
  • Document assessments, referrals, service coordination activities, and youth progress in program data systems in accordance with program reporting requirements.
  • Provide substance use education and prevention support to youth and families, including information on the risks of alcohol and drug use and strategies for healthy decision-making.
  • Participate in weekly multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings as the designated substance use advisor.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of community-based substance use treatment resources.
