About the role
Under general supervision of the district Chief Probation Officer, this position matches juvenile service needs and funding options for out-of-home care/placement and behavioral health services in conjunction with the referring probation officer. Responsibilities include analyzing provided services, researching interventions, best practices, and services at the district level, and supporting probation supervision operations.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes assessment instruments completed by probation officers and case staffing to identify funding streams for out-of-home care/placement and/or wrap-around services based on needs and behaviors.
- Conducts analysis of provided services and research to identify and develop interventions, best practices, and services at the district level.
- Responsible for the distribution of cases, coordinating court appearances, and managing information to monitor workload.
- Consults with probation officers and utilizes risk assessment instruments and case staffing to match juveniles with appropriate alternatives to detention based on needs and behaviors.
- Coordinates with the Juvenile Justice Treatment Specialist/designee to identify, obtain, and resolve issues relative to juvenile services to enhance the use of detention alternatives.
- Maintains appropriate documentation supporting compliance with federal, state, and local laws; collects and monitors data outcomes; prepares reports as necessary, and oversees program evaluation.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related fields; 3 years of related experience in the probation system; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job.
- All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Department of Education.

Physical Requirements
- May be subjected to environmental threats, odors, dusts, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and travel.
- Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
Travel Expectations
- Regular travel within the district to conduct provider or community visits and support operations.
- Occasional regional travel for orientation, training, and educational workshops.
Schedule
- Core hours are Monday–Friday daytime.
- Occasional on-call, evening, weekend, and holiday availability is required as part of our 24/7 commitment to community safety.
Pay
- Starting salary: $66,495.95 annually (Hiring Rate).
- Immediate growth: Earn a 2.5% pay increase after successfully completing your probation period (not applicable if starting above the Hiring Rate).
- Higher starting pay may be considered based on education and experience, subject to final management approval.
- Future increases: Annual cost-of-living adjustments (applied on July 1) are subject to State Legislature approval.
