Junior Support Engineer (IT)
About the role
The Junior Support Engineer (IT) will provide technical assistance and support to ensure seamless operation of IT systems critical to manufacturing processes. This role is ideal for a tech-savvy professional eager to troubleshoot, optimize, and maintain IT infrastructure in a fast-paced industrial setting. The Junior Support Engineer will work closely with the IT and production teams to ensure system reliability, data security, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-level technical support for hardware, software, and network issues within the manufacturing facility
- Aid in maintaining IT systems critical to manufacturing operations, including ERP systems, production software, and data tracking tools
- Install, configure, and maintain IT equipment, including desktops, servers, printers, and mobile devices
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technology-related challenges affecting production and operational efficiency
- Support cybersecurity initiatives by ensuring all systems are compliant with security protocols and updates
- Document technical issues, solutions, and workarounds for future reference
- Provide training and guidance to end-users to enhance their IT proficiency
- Participate in IT projects, such as system upgrades and implementation of new technologies
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
- Experience: 1-2 years of IT support experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is a plus
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in troubleshooting Windows and Linux operating systems, knowledge of networking fundamentals (LAN/WAN, VPN, firewalls), basic understanding of IT infrastructure, including servers and databases, familiarity with cloud platforms and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Azure)
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, strong verbal and written communication skills, team-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to task management
