Junior Rust Engineer

Carv · Park City, UT · 1 mo ago
On-siteEngineeringFull-time

About the role

Carv is on a mission to unlock the enjoyment of better skiing. We use AI, real-time feedback, and sensor-driven data to help skiers to measure technique and coach them to improve. Our team is building industry-pioneering software that bridges the gap between technology and human performance. We're looking for a product-minded, inquisitive and inventive Senior Rust Engineer to drive the development of the core of Carv's coaching across Android and iOS, and expand and maintain our backend infrastructure. If you love building products that push the limits of what's possible with real-time experiences on constrained devices, we'd love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to our Rust codebase from architecture to implementation
  • Work closely with designers, product managers and skiers to build category defining coaching experiences
  • Implement real-time coaching features powered by AI and sensor data, and test these on the ski slope
  • Stay on top of industry trends and Rust advancements and adopt the latest best practices

Requirements

  • A passionate skier, beginner skiers welcome
  • Some experience with Rust/go/C/C++ or similar languages. It's okay to not have used Rust before, as long as you are excited to learn it!
  • Relentless bias for action

Benefits

  • Work on a game-changing product that combines AI, biomechanics, and coaching
  • Autonomy and impact—you'll be a key player in shaping the future of digital sports training
  • Opportunity to work from our Innsbruck office where you can ski with fully subsidised ski tickets
  • Life outside work: We're happy to flex around your daily life (e.g. childcare), and we actively encourage getting out to ski for an hour during the day if you can fit it around meetings and make the time up
  • Healthcare cover
  • 401(k): 3% automatic contribution, plus 50% match on next 2%
  • Paid time off: 15 days PTO per year, plus 7 federal holidays
  • Ski perks: A full season pass, plus an annual company offsite — a week's skiing in Europe with the team

Schedule

  • In the office: 3 days per week on average
  • Core business hours: 8am–4pm Mountain Time
  • Flexibility and workload: You may occasionally need to work later depending on business needs, and busy periods may require early calls (around 7am) for UK overlap. Outside of that, we trust you to manage your own working times. On average we work ~50 hours per week.

Relocation assistance offered based on circumstances.
