Role Accountabilities

  • Exploration: Support discovery-focused exploration on specific projects within the Springer project.
  • Increased Geological Understanding: Develop a thorough understanding of the project and wider region.
  • Develop Exploration Targets: Identify and develop good exploration targets with rigorous, cost-effective testing and evaluation.
  • Field Exploration Programs: Design and implement a variety of field exploration programs.
  • Communicate Results: Present results, observations, and recommendations to management.
  • Mentorship: Develop and mentor all direct reports.
  • Safety: Ensure all operations are conducted safely and in accordance with Company standards and procedures.

Safety

  • Demonstrate personal commitment to safety and environmental practices.
  • Apply and enforce agreed procedures, safeguards, and controls.
  • Observe hazard management plans.
  • Report statutory and internal requirements as necessary.
  • Participate in health and safety system development.

People

  • Supervise and review the work of direct reports and others.
  • Provide feedback to the Senior Geologist.
  • Oversee performance and development review plans for all direct reports.
  • Ensure personnel have the appropriate equipment, licenses, skills, induction, and training.
  • Facilitate effective and supportive communication among team members and related departments.
  • Actively participate in the exploration group and company-wide initiatives.

Cost

  • Ensure all costs incurred remain within budget.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
  • Plan, approve, and monitor expenditures under your authority.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Safety: Achieve zero Lost Time Injuries (LTIs).
  • Production: Complete a minimum of 5,000 meters of exploration drilling per financial year.
  • Quality Control: Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly quality control and exploration deliverables.
  • Reporting: Prepare daily and weekly reports by the due date.
  • Staff Development: Actively participate in staff development and training.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Geology is required.
  • A Master's of Science degree in Geology is desirable.
  • Minimum 2 years' related experience.
  • Advanced use of various company and departmental systems.
  • Proficient knowledge and constant self-improvement of all aspects of geological and reporting software required.
  • Relevant field geology, technical, and academic experience.
  • Relevant management experience.
  • Knowledge of local exploration and mining regulations.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.

Role Challenges

  • Aid in the discovery of additional high-grade, economic ore deposits through systematic exploration and lateral thinking.
  • Create and maintain harmony and efficiency within the geological team and the Company as a whole.
  • Manage, execute, and report on results from exploration programs and geological projects.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Geologist to gather and interpret critical geological, geochemical, and geophysical datasets to identify the most prospective targets.
