Primary Responsibilities
- Ore Control: Provide in-pit grade control and laboratory QA/QC to ensure that ore shipments meet quality standards.
- Geological & Drilling Support: Support diamond drilling and blast hole sampling campaigns by assisting senior technical staff with logging core/cutting, contractor management, drillhole planning, database management, and sample preparation.
- Environmental Monitoring & Compliance: Monitor and assist with environmental compliance activities, including regulatory reporting and the collection/analysis of field data to ensure adherence to site permits and safety standards.
Additional Supporting Responsibilities
- Reporting & Data Management: Prepare routine reports, geological maps, and tables using analytical data to support resource modeling, mine design, and reconciliation efforts.
- Field Operations: Conduct field activities including Blast hole survey, collection of ore cutting from blast hole drilling, field documentation, and oversight of drilling subcontractors as required.
- SAP & Inventory Support: Supports the development departmental budgets and tracks actual vs budgetary goals. Assist with the site accounting processes such as requisitions, inventory adjustments, and goods receipts.
Skills / Qualifications
- Education: BS degree (preferably in Geological Engineering or Geology or related).
- Experience: 0–3 years of technical experience in a junior role; operations experience is highly preferred.
- Technical Toolkit: Proficiency in, or aptitude to learn, geological modeling software such as Surpac, Leapfrog, and ArcGIS. Proficiency in Google sheets or MS Excel and Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems is a plus.
- Soft Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to establish positive relationships with a diverse workforce, including peers, superiors, and contractors.
- Certifications: Must be willing to obtain/maintain necessary safety certifications (e.g., MSHA) and comply with all site-specific Health and Safety Plans.
Physical Requirements
- Field activities may require working in unfavorable weather conditions and operating within specialized protective equipment as necessary.
- This is a site-based role requiring a mix of office and field time, with some travel to project sites as required.
Compensation
$65,000 - 85,000 commensurate with experience
