About the role
The Department of Design & Construction, Division of Infrastructure, is currently seeking a Junior Engineer to join our Construction Management 2 – South Queens – Section 2 team.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to a range of engineering tasks, from moderate to complex, including construction inspection, construction management, engineering investigations, and assessments related to various engineering functions.
- Carry out civil engineering tasks of moderate complexity under the supervision of an Engineer-In-Charge and/or Resident Engineer.
- Scope of work and training encompasses one or more of the following specialized areas: construction management, engineering investigations, cost estimation, specification interpretation, engineering calculations, conducting field inspections, and participating in contract negotiations and dispute resolutions.
Requirements
- A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Acrobat, and AutoCAD.
- Construction knowledge relevant to infrastructure work (i.e., roadway, sewer, and/or water main).
- Knowledge of applicable engineering standards, and some familiarity with NYC DOT, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards.
- General understanding of the NYC infrastructure system and current engineering practices.
- An understanding of project scheduling and management tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential (Optional).
- Valid driver's license (Required).
- Personal vehicle (Preferred).
Preferred Skills
