Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Construction Engineer to support aviation projects, including airport runways, taxiways, and related infrastructure located in the Hunt Valley, MD area. This position involves on-site documentation, and coordination to ensure construction work complies with project plans, specifications, and applicable aviation standards.
- Manage construction projects, including coordinating schedules, budgets, quality, safety, and field operations
- Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to meet basic engineering and construction specifications
- Perform walk-downs and inspections of installed commodities to assure conformance with specifications and design
- Perform quantity surveys for tracking and reporting
- Provide technical direction to drafters, technicians, and surveyors
- Maintain comprehensive on-site documentation, including daily reports, inspection logs, and construction records in compliance with aviation standards and regulatory requirements
- Cook with subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of materials and adherence to project schedules
- Process and track Requests for Information (RFIs) and change orders, ensuring proper documentation and approval workflows
- Conduct material testing and quality assurance inspections to verify compliance with project specifications and industry standards
- Monitor and report on construction progress, including milestone achievement and budget tracking, to project management and clients
Qualifications
- BA/BS plus 2 years of related experience, or AS Degree plus 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Valid U.S Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review
- Due to the nature of the projects a US Citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) and/or Professional Engineer (PE) certification
- Current NICET, ICC, MARTCP, or equivalent industry certifications
- Experience managing airport construction projects, including project planning, coordination, scheduling, quality assurance, and stakeholder communication
- Demonstrated project management experience with aviation or airport infrastructure projects
