Junior Employment Associate

We have partnered with a specialised Southern California law practice that is actively hiring a Junior Associate Attorney to join its growing litigation practice. This is an opportunity for an early-career attorney who wants meaningful responsibility, strong mentorship and the opportunity to develop as a litigator while working on matters involving gender identity, sexual orientation, employment discrimination and related civil rights issues. The practice has a strong commitment to advocacy for members of the LGBTQ+ community, so candidates should have genuine familiarity with and comfort working on issues affecting LGBTQ+ clients and communities. Location: Fully remote. Must be based in Los Angeles or the broader Southern California area. Salary: $100,000-$125,000, depending on experience. Benefits: Medical/health insurance. What You'll Be Doing - Working Closely With The Firm's Lead Attorney, You Will Have The Opportunity To Take On Substantive Responsibility Across Active Matters, Including Drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, legal briefs and other litigation documents.Conducting detailed legal research involving employment, statutory, constitutional and civil rights issues.Assisting with case strategy and developing legal arguments.Preparing for and attending court appearances and administrative hearings throughout Southern California.Assisting with depositions and, as experience develops, taking and defending depositions.Supporting client representation from case assessment through litigation.Contributing to CLE presentations, community education and outreach initiatives.Working directly with senior counsel in a close, collaborative environment. What We're Looking For - The firm is open to Attorneys at the beginning of their careers, including newly admitted California attorneys, provided they demonstrate the right combination of legal ability, judgement and commitment to the practice area. Ideal Candidates Will Have An active California Bar licence.0-3 years of legal experience.Excellent legal research, writing and analytical skills.Prior exposure to civil litigation through employment, clerkships, internships, clinics or similar experience.Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple matters effectively.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.A genuine interest in employment, civil rights and/or discrimination-related litigation.Professional familiarity with issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community and an ability to work thoughtfully and effectively with LGBTQ+ clients.The ability and willingness to attend occasional in-person hearings, depositions and other proceedings across Southern California. Newly Barred Attorneys Are Encouraged to Apply This role is particularly well suited to a newly admitted California attorney who has built a strong foundation through law school clinics, judicial clerkships, internships, externships or prior litigation exposure and is looking for an opportunity to develop into a capable, independent litigator.You do not need to have already built a specialised LGBTQ+ employment litigation practice. What matters is that you have strong fundamentals, genuine interest in the work and relevant exposure that demonstrates your ability to connect with the firm's client base and subject matter.
