About the role
ERG is a research and consulting firm that provides multidisciplinary support to federal, state, and commercial clients. We are seeking a junior electrical engineer to join a team developing electrical designs for maintenance, renovations, and upgrades to existing buildings and power distribution systems at the Naval Support Facility (NSF) Indian Head, MD. This is a full-time, onsite position located approximately 30 miles from Washington, DC.
Responsibilities
- Prepare design packages, including electrical design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for renovation projects such as HVAC, electrical power service, emergency generators, surge suppression, lightning protection, grounding, bonding, control systems, and telecommunications systems.
- Conduct technical reviews of design packages to assess compliance with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), electrical codes, regulations, and end-user requirements.
- Provide technical input for proposal development for renovation projects.
- Support the design process from concept through delivery of the completed design package.
- Prepare technical memoranda and reports summarizing requirements or basis of design.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including engineering and manufacturing departments.
- Serve as a project manager and/or design manager on assigned projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (minimum GPA of 3.0).
- Experience with the design of energetics-related safety systems (e.g., bonding & grounding, lightning protection systems) is preferred but not required.
- Awareness and/or fluency in NFPA 70 (NEC).
- Experience working with AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Ability to prioritize, perform, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Must currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearance.
- Must be a U.S. citizen; this position is not eligible for Limited Access Authorizations.
