High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. FCIC/NCIC certification required within six months of employment. Must pass BCSO typing test with a minimum score of 30 wpm. Proficiency in various database systems required.

Responsibilities

  • Distributes and recalls court-issued criminal and civil documents to and from agency units, precincts, and other law enforcement and court agencies/officials.
  • Performs data entry and updates of court-issued criminal or civil process in agency and FCIC/NCIC databases, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitors, answers, and replies to telephone, radio, and written requests from law enforcement agencies, court officials, and the public regarding arrest warrants, injunctions, and civil process.
  • Makes transportation arrangements and prepares orders to transport for subjects in custody.
  • Files court-issued criminal and civil documents in accordance with agency procedures.
  • Collects and distributes funds and fees related to service of civil or criminal process.
  • Maintains financial records of funds and fees related to service of criminal and/or civil process.
  • Ensures service affidavits are accurately completed and returned in a timely manner.
  • Performs routine office tasks such as preparing reports, typing, filing, faxing, telephoning, operating radio, and photocopying.
  • Monitors Teletype radio network and responds to requests for information from law enforcement officers.
  • Enters and retrieves criminal and investigative information through FCIC/NCIC Criminal Justice Information Systems.
  • Maintains various logs, charts, maps, repair logs, wrecker logs, and recordings to provide records of all non-emergency actions for follow-up investigative, administrative, or legal action.
  • Operates and maintains non-emergency equipment such as computers, printers, playback systems, CAD, and other systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Schedule

Work is performed in an office environment. Employees must be flexible and available to work all shifts during training, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and during natural disasters. After successful completion of training, shifts will be assigned as either 2:00 PM – 12:00 AM or 9:00 PM – 7:00 AM, with 3 days off each week. Must be available to work either of these shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and during natural disasters.

Requirements

  • Completion of a criminal background investigation, including polygraph and reference/employment/neighborhood checks.
  • Must submit to screening for illegal drug use prior to assuming the position and will be subject to return-to-duty, post-accident, random, and reasonable suspicion drug tests while employed.
