JR UNDERWRITER

About the role

AnnieMac Home Mortgage is seeking a Full Time Junior Underwriter to review and clear underwriting conditions for final approval and clear-to-close submissions under the supervision of an Underwriter or Senior Underwriter. This position reports to the Underwriting Manager, with daily direction from the Underwriter/Senior Underwriter and Team Lead. Candidates should have mortgage-industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze, in accordance with underwriting service-level agreements, credit reports, income (including self-employed), assets, sales contracts, appraisals, and other loan-file documents.
• Communicate effectively with the processing team regarding submission questions and document acceptability.
• Review and analyze personal tax returns; receive training and assistance from the Underwriter on business income and returns.
• Validate that all conditions from the Automated Underwriting System (AUS) have been met and the loan is QM compliant.
• Analyze loan packages for signs of fraudulent documentation or information.
• Stay informed of all government regulations, requirements, and laws for branch and broker submissions.
• Consult with processing and closing departments to ensure all underwriting conditions are met prior to loan closing.
• Review and clear all underwriting conditions before closing.
