About the role

The top-notch lending team is seeking a goal-driven Mortgage Underwriter to assist with making quality decisions on VA, FHA, and conventional loans for clients.

Responsibilities

• Identify, examine, and balance transactional, borrower, and property-related risks to arrive at a loan decision of approval, suspense, counteroffer, or denial.
• Use analytical skills and extensive knowledge of the loan process to thoroughly inspect credit reports, income documentation, asset documentation, liabilities, property appraisals, and title reports to ensure loans meet company standards, government regulations, and secondary market standards.
• Act as the subject matter expert on underwriting-related issues, providing analytical support and counseling advice to partners and management in their functional areas as needed.
• Show a strong understanding of the loan process, including knowledge of various types of mortgage documents and investor requirements.
• Effectively prioritize tasks and produce an accurate, high-quality work product.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of the loan process and mortgage documents.
• Knowledge of various types of mortgage documents and investor requirements.
• Effective prioritization and production of accurate work products.
• USDA experience preferred.
• DE and SAR certification preferred.
