Jet Direct Mortgage is looking for an experienced and ambitious Senior Mortgage Underwriter specializing in VA loans to join our fast‑paced, goal‑oriented, and supportive environment in Saddle Brook, NJ. Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with government and bank regulations
• Apply strong knowledge of income calculations, tax returns, credit reports, and identifying red flags
• Leverage hands‑on experience with lending for co‑ops and condominiums
• Perform in‑depth collateral analysis and understand appraisal & title reports
• Prepare customer commitments with any additional conditions required
• Communicate decisions (approval, suspense, counter, or denial) to appropriate individuals within 30 days of application
• Maintain thorough working knowledge of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac underwriting guidelines and automated underwriting engines (DU/LP)
• Multi‑task effectively and meet guidelines in a high‑volume pipeline

Qualifications

• Current CHUMS Certification with 5+ years FHA/Conventional underwriting experience
• Strong capability to work in multiple systems such as Encompass (paperless environment)
• Knowledgeable in regulatory, policy, and compliance issues pertaining to the mortgage industry
• Ability to successfully manage a substantial pipeline of loans in a timely manner while focusing on accuracy and important details
• Knowledge of regulatory issues in both underwriting/finance and real estate
