About the role

The Junior Botanical Garden Custodian, under general supervision, performs work of ordinary difficulty and responsibility, which may entail supervision in cleaning, maintaining, and enforcing safety requirements in one or more small buildings.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain small public buildings, including office moves, setup and breakdown of tents, chairs, and tables
• Sweep, dust, mop, high-speed buff, wax, and clean carpets using bonnet, cold, and hot water extraction methods
• Power wash surfaces and gather/dispose of refuse
• Clean and remove snow from walkways

Requirements

• 2 years of full-time experience in cleaning and maintaining buildings in a large cultural institution or educational facility

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Ability to move 25 lbs and lift overhead
• Stand for long periods of time
• Work outdoors in all types of weather conditions

Schedule

• Full-time: Wednesday to Sunday, 10 AM – 6 PM
• Regular days off: Monday & Tuesday

Pay

Starting salary: $39,044. Current Garden union employees with 2 years of employment qualify for $44,901. Non-union applicants may advance to the higher rate after two years.
