Jr. Botanical Garden Custodian

About the role

Under general supervision, performs work of ordinary difficulty and responsibility, which may entail supervision in cleaning, maintaining and enforcing safety requirements in one or more small buildings.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain small public buildings
• Perform office moves
• Set up and break down tents, chairs and tables
• Sweep, dust, mop, high speed buff, wax, bonnet carpet clean, cold and hot water extract, and power wash
• Gather and dispose of refuse
• Clean and remove snow from walkways

Requirements

• 2 years of full-time experience cleaning and maintaining buildings in a large cultural institution or educational facility

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Ability to move 25 lbs and lift overhead
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions

Schedule

• Full-time role
• Monday to Friday, 4 PM – 12 AM; regular days off Saturday & Sunday
• Friday to Tuesday, 10 AM – 6 AM; regular days off Wednesday & Thursday

Pay

$39,044; $44,901 for current Garden union employees employed for 2 years. Non-Garden and non-union applicants advance to the higher rate after two years.
