Journeyman Lineman - Evergreen, CO

About the role

We anticipate the need for one or more Journeyman Lineman to be located in Evergreen, CO. The role involves performing duties related to overhead and underground electric distribution systems.

The successful candidate must have the physical ability, endurance, and desire to perform potentially strenuous outdoor work at all times of the day and night, under various weather conditions. You will be expected to respond to emergency callouts after normal work hours and on weekends, and must live within 40 minutes/40 miles of the Evergreen Service Center. Safe, proficient, and effective pole-climbing is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform lineman classification duties involving overhead and underground electric distribution systems.
• Operate and maintain Line Construction and Maintenance vehicles, including forklifts, digger-derricks, platform digger units, wire and rope tensioning units, and similar equipment.
• Demonstrate knowledge and experience in electric Distribution system troubleshooting.
• Apply well-rounded knowledge of distribution primary feeder circuits, transformer loading and connections, and fusing practices.
• Install and connect electric meters.
• Use hot line tools, protective devices, fuses, lightning arresters, disconnect switches, breakers, grounding sets, and transformers.
• Adhere to Safety Rules and regulations, including the use of rubber gloves, sleeves, line hose, switching procedures, and PPE in accordance with Company and OSHA requirements.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class A CDL driver’s license including a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
• Completion of a qualified apprenticeship program and possession of a Journeyman Lineman certification.
• Must live within 40 minutes/40 miles of the Evergreen Service Center.
• Self-motivated, ability to work well with others, positive attitude, and commitment to working safely and productively.
• For External and Non-Xcel Energy Journeyman candidates: verification of qualifications and knowledge will include written testing and/or practical skills evaluation during the application process.

Pay

The starting rate of pay for this position is $63.95 per hour.
