Journeyman Lineman

Construct, build, and maintain overhead and underground electric facilities with primary voltages up to 15KV.

Responsibilities

  • Installation, removal, and maintenance of overhead and underground primary line facilities and secondary services.
  • Installation of overhead and underground transformers and wiring of all types of transformer banks.
  • Installation and wiring of regulators, capacitors, and reclosers.
  • Operation of various vehicles and equipment, including aerial bucket and digger derrick trucks.
  • Reading and understanding job prints and sketches.
  • Recognizing materials and their functions.
  • Setting and climbing poles of all sizes in various locations, including energized lines.
  • Availability for on-call duty and emergency response.
  • Performing basic computer tasks such as entering time worked, noting task completion, checking emails, and completing computer-based training.
  • Communicating effectively and interacting with a team.

Requirements

  • Must live within 20 miles of the work location in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
  • Journeyman Lineman with at least 6 months as an Apprentice 4th year and a minimum of 3.5 years of demonstrated linework experience.
  • Maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, out-of-town assignments, and up to 16 continuous hours per day as required.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and all types of terrain.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks including digging, pulling, pushing, carrying, and lifting up to 115 pounds.
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and around energized lines and equipment.
  • Ability to climb wooden/steel structures, poles, and ladders, and perform work above shoulders on energized overhead lines.
  • Capability to perform emergency rescue operations, including bringing an unconscious or injured co-worker down from significant heights.
  • Sound judgment to work safely in an inherently dangerous environment and adherence to safety rules.
  • Ability to wear required personal protection equipment.
  • Regular and reliable attendance, with the ability to work overtime when necessary.
  • Must pass a pre-employment Fitness for Duty exam.
