About The Job
The Tepa Companies are seeking a Journeyman Electrician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex electrical systems on industrial and fuel-related construction projects. This role involves interpreting technical drawings and specifications to ensure installations are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes, project requirements, and quality standards.
- Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
- Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
- Pulls wiring through conduit, assisted by an electrician helper.
- Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, using knives or pliers, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
- Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment, using hand tools.
- Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads.
- Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using testing instruments, such as an ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope.
- Observes the functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
- Repairs faulty equipment or systems.
- Cuts and welds steel structural members, using flame-cutting and welding equipment.
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years of verified electrical trade experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of verified industrial or fuel systems electrical experience.
- Current state-issued Journeyman Electrician license required.
- Experience on federal, Department of Defense (DoD), or heavy industrial construction projects is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Proficient in the use of electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
- Thorough understanding of electrical power distribution systems, controls, and power generation.
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS), and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC).

- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to communicate effectively with project managers, superintendents, craft personnel, subcontractors, and clients.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain access to U.S. military installations, including successfully passing required background checks.
- Ability to pass a drug screen and background check in compliance with federal regulation.
- Ability to travel and work at project sites throughout the United States, as required.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform the physical demands of construction work, including climbing, lifting, kneeling, and working in confined spaces when necessary.
