About the role

MTI Motion’s Muskego location has partnered with the State of Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development to launch a Registered Apprenticeship Program. Over a 4-year period, the apprentice machinist will follow a structured training schedule, learning essential skills from experienced employees across a wide range of processes, including manual and CNC machining operations. In addition to on-the-job training, the apprentice will attend a technical college one day per week during the first two years. Upon successful completion of the program and all its requirements, the individual will achieve Journeyman CNC Machinist status and continue employment with MTI in a highly skilled role, producing specialized products for our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Retrieve job-related information such as routings, drawings, programs, and inspection sheets.
  • Review raw material for dimensions, quantity, defects, and maintain heat lot traceability.
  • Perform all change-over activities through first-piece inspection, including edits and offsets.
  • Use precision tools and gauges to measure part features and dimensions, documenting results according to in-process quality inspection requirements and AQL sampling intervals.
  • Learn to detect and troubleshoot machining and programming issues as they arise.
  • Operate secondary equipment to finish and clean parts for subsequent operations.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness and attention to detail to ensure quality and production results.
  • Use a PC or laptop to record labor and production information.
  • Follow prescribed safety rules and procedures for all work.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and keep the work area clean and orderly.
  • Perform various other duties as required.
