Journeyman Carpenter

About the role

PCL Construction, Inc. is seeking experienced Carpenters for a project in Scottsdale, AZ. This role involves contributing to a team by reading plans and specifications, complying with safety policies, and performing various carpentry tasks.

Responsibilities

• Reads and follows blueprints and specifications
• Prints and uses layout drawings
• Ensures compliance with all company safety policies and procedures
• Secures and stores tools, equipment, and materials at the end of each workday
• Lays out, sets elevations, and grades
• Installs PVC water stops, sets anchor bolts, blocks-out, and erects and strips gang forms

Requirements

• Can work independently with minimal direction
• Skilled in basic carpentry tasks such as handrails, hole covers, temporary wall framing, etc.
• Self-motivated and proactive, willing to assist in keeping the job site clean and safe
• Acts as a reliable second set of eyes on site
• Provides clear, honest communication
• Doesn’t need constant supervision or follow-up

Qualifications

• Good attendance record with references from previous employers
• Safety certifications (OSHA) preferred
• At least 1 year of experience, preferably in heavy civil construction
• Strength to perform average lifting of up to 35 pounds and occasionally to 50 pounds, from the ground to waist level
• Arm, hand, and finger dexterity with both hands involved in activities such as reaching, handling, and feeling—good eyesight
• Ability to navigate through the work-site on a daily basis
• Occasionally climbs up and down ladders, scaffolding, and stairs
• Able to work in extreme temperatures, in confined spaces, high places, and in excavated areas
