About the role
The Journeyman Carpenter will collaborate with the project management team to complete industrial construction projects on time and under budget. This position involves planning, laying out, and performing all types of carpentry work in accordance with plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards within a heavy industrial setting.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret prints, drawings, plans, and specifications; visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
- Construct, erect, install, and repair structures, scaffolding, and framework using hand and power tools.
- Measure, cut, assemble, and install forms, rebar, embeds, and anchor bolts; construct and erect built-in-place or prefabricated wooden forms for molding concrete structures.
- Erect built-in-place forms or assemble and install prefabricated forms; insert spreaders and tie-rods to maintain specific dimensions; brace forms using nails, bolts, anchor rods, steel cables, planks, and timber.
- Pour concrete into finished forms, finish concrete surfaces to specifications, and install items in accordance with applicable plans and specifications.
Requirements
- Experience as a Concrete Carpenter Journeyman in a powerplant/industrial setting is required.
- TWIC Card and/or Real ID required.
- Strong working knowledge and skills for the position.
- Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions; communicate effectively with management and supervision.
- Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools, layout tools, and measurement tools.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Constantly move about a construction/industrial site; ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
- Work in changing outdoor weather conditions and irregular hours, including weekends, overtime, and holidays.
- May be required to climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders, scaffolds, and mechanical platforms/manlifts.
- Potential exposure to extreme cold and hot temperatures, confined spaces (including tanks and vessels), limited working surfaces, noise above 85 decibels, intense odors, and areas with limited visibility.
- Compliance with all applicable safety regulations, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and Loenbro's Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) policies.
