About the role
The Journey Level Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating Machining equipment in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. This role involves manufacturing, and reconditioning components to meet OEM and industry standards. This role involves using manual and CNC controlled lathes and mills, and interprets mechanical drawings and sketches to execute high-quality work.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs layouts, sets up, and operates machines.
- Read and interpret procedures, work orders, and technical drawings to meet specifications.
- Apply knowledge of metals and alloys, including stainless and carbon steels.
- Improves set ups and methods for higher quality and improved cost.
- Operate overhead crane and forklifts safely as directed by Supervisor.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Maintains a safe, neat, and orderly workstation.
- Assists in the disassembly, inspection, and re-assembly of pump equipment when required.
- Communicate effectively to ensure smooth workflow transitions between team members.
- Supports and assists coworkers, including training and collaboration.
- Supports, cooperates with, and participates in company-wide safety program which includes following all safety policies and procedures.
- Supports and cooperates in Sulzer Nuclear Quality Program.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Works overtime as requested.
- Operates forklifts, overhead cranes, man lifts, and scissor lifts.
Qualifications
- Completion of a machinist apprentice program or equivalent training.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in machining.
- Able to hold close tolerances and conduct component inspection.
- Able to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Basic math skills.
