Position Summary
Responsible for performing routine construction inspection services, survey processes (line staking), including closely supervised liaison between supervisor and contractor, and is familiar with plans and specifications; has some initial supervised exposure to clients.
Responsibilities
- Effectively use electronic devices including smartphones, tablets, laptop computers, and GPS units.
- Gather an initial understanding of client construction standards/RUS standards, NESC Code and Observe work in progress to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Examine workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards.
- Maintain daily report of construction inspection activities.
- Prepare sketches of construction installations that deviate from plans and incorporate changes into master plans, while double checked through a supervisor or Project Representative III.
- Inspect equipment operation and material on the job site.
- Interpret specifications as related to materials and workmanship.
- Receive moderate supervision from Project Supervisor or Manager, Operations.
- May be assigned to work independently on a project with some complex features.
- Complete daily timesheet entries in conjunction with weekly expense reports and mileage documentation using the Company’s time and expense reporting system.
- Perform other related duties, as assigned.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
- Required: Previous experience working outside.
- PREFERRED: Some related technical school course work. Basic understanding of NESC Code. Surveying and RTK equipment experience.
Licenses, Certifications, Training Requirements
- A valid motor vehicle driver’s license in good standing is required. No DWI/DUI convictions.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors
- Most assignments are performed at a job site and may include some physical labor and environmental distractions such as changes in climate and topography.
- Exposed to extreme weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures, rain, snow, dust, and wind.
- Flow of work involves normal mental and visual attention along with manual coordination much of the time.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is consistently required to get in and out of a vehicle; stand; walk; sit; climb steep banks; cross fences; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- The employee must be able to walk an average of three miles per day and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust.
- May also work in an office type environment on occasion, or as required.
